about the band

A Ferdinand the Bull show isn’t just a concert—it’s a journey. With a sound that feels both intimate and expansive, their performances weave together raw storytelling, high-energy folk anthems, and moments of quiet catharsis. One minute, you’re in a hushed room, hanging onto every lyric; the next, you’re swept up in a foot-stomping, crowd-sung chorus that fills the space like wildfire.

Known for their dynamic stage presence and deep connection with audiences, Ferdinand the Bull blurs the line between performer and listener. Their chemistry is undeniable, their energy contagious, and their ability to turn any venue—whether a packed festival or a dimly lit club—into something that feels like a shared memory is what makes their shows unforgettable. Expect soaring harmonies, full-band crescendos, and the kind of moments that stick with you long after the last note fades.

Built for the road, made for the stage—this is music for the restless and the rooted, for those searching and those who’ve found their way home.

Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the core trio delivers the spirit of the Appalachian highlands to venues and festivals thousands of miles away, including an official showcase at SXSW in 2022, and sharing stages alongside powerhouse artists such as Charles Wesley Godwin, Briscoe, Josh Ritter, Dustbowl Revival, Mo Lowda and the Humble, and the Ghost of Paul Revere.

"Alt-folk foursome Ferdinand the Bull has already secured a spot in my musical heart due to taking their name from one of my favorite books as a kid. Luckily, they craft some pretty magical music as well. With the sounds of early Americana string bands and harmony-rich vocal interplay. Get ready, Ferdinand the Bull might just end up being your new fall soundtrack." - Paste Magazine/Noisetrade Music

"Great, upbeat and fun. Folk rock with interesting and fun arrangements and their enthusiasm was contagious." - InYourSpeakers

“This young group of talented Pittsburgh musicians has been playing together and touring the country for three years now as folk band Ferdinand the Bull... Characteristic of frontman Nick Snyder’s lyrical style, “Wooden Fire Escape” is full of themes about nature and love. Pulsating under Snyder’s vocals is a great backtrack of kick drum and guitar strums that make you want to get up and dance along.” - The Wild Honeypie

The band’s sound and energy is extremely romantic.” - 91.3 WYEP

A few years ago, folk-rock seemed like something out of a museum of the 1960s, but a new generation have given the genre new life. Ferdinand the Bull are an excellent example.” - George Graham, WVIA-FM
